It fine for toast – but it doesn’t make for a delicate sandwich. In fact it makes better fruit cakes than loaves of bread! Jesus says he is the bread of life - the bread that has come down from heaven (John 6) After feeding that vast multitude with actual bread, he then feeds them spiritually with his words. Yet there is so much bread on the market today. Speciality Bread, Olive Bread, Soda Bread, Tomato Bread, Wholemeal, White, Organic, Wheat Free. Somehow it seems like to be in the bread business today is to be the Master Baker of hundreds of varieties. Are the ingredients that we are placing into the bread pan of the Church varied enough for when we press the start button? Or are we still just a traditional Loaf? |
